La Visual is proud to have designed and developed this award-winning eCommerce website. shop.bandofoutsiders.com is being heralded within the design community as an über-intuitive and user-friendly shopping experience. La Visual designed an ultra-simple user shopping experience for Scott Sternberg's fashion forward clothing lines. The site's interface sits on top a drag-and-drop shopping experience and La Visual's robust back-end CMS module. GQ is continuing to endorse Band of Outsiders along with the online store that we designed and produced from the ground up.
With a cultish group of fans and consumers from New York to Japan, the challenge was to design a user experience that was consistent with the Band Of Outsiders' story. The goal was to keep the navigation provocative and unique without being too esoteric. The result was a tag-based browsing system and an open canvas feel for the shopping experience. The keywords touch, turn, try, and take were applied to bring the user into a retail-esque shopping experience with a touch of simplicity. Aside from the accolades we've received for the design and functionality of the site, we decreased the CTR rate by 30%, decreasing the amount of clicks to check out from an average of 7-15 clicks to a staggering 3-5.
The site was received with critical acclaim, taking home 5 Davey Awards and 1 silver W3, and several others for best fashion site in the industry. Since it’s launch in December 2009, Band Of Outsiders has grown from a small boutique to an $8 million organization with just 12 employees. Check out the business week write-up. Talk about punch!
