Biography

Braven has over 25 years of experience as a creative director and design practitioner. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Braven started his career in the late 90s at Art Center. He quickly dropped out after being hired as a designer for Atlarge Design Lab in Los Angeles’ arts district in 1999. During his time there, he was mentored by Thom Jones (the designer not the singer) and became immersed in the various subcultures that birthed streetwear. This shaped his aesthetic as a young designer working with brands like Freshjive, Universal Music, Seven Denim, and Beastie Boys.

In 2006, he launched La Visual with a vision to build a design agency that focused on branding identity for the tech sector. Quickly established it as a reputable branding agency that produced award-winning work for brands like MySpace, Citysearch, IAC, Sony Pictures, Band of Outsiders, and Kelly Wearstler.

As a five-time Founder, Product Designer, and Branding Expert, Braven holds over 30 awards for his branding and product design work. Most notably, his team was a part of the first-ever drag-and-drop eCommerce store for the infamous men’s fashion Band of Outsiders. As an entrepreneur, he has designed and monetized several of his own SaaS products. Most notably those incubated in-house at La Visual, and later acquired by Discovery Communications and JAFRA cosmetics.

Aside from his work as a Founder & Executive, Braven is an engaging speaker who has been invited to speak on brand development and design thinking at: UCLA, Techstars, AIGA, and the Redondo Beach Convention Center.

Braven is currently a Forbes business council contributor. He also writes on leadership, branding, and entrepreneurship. Braven’s work is published in the Los Angeles Times, PRINT, Forbes, Venture Beat, and the New York Times.
